With the days becoming increasingly shorter and the arrival of cold winter weather, it’s natural to feel sluggish and slip into somewhat of a hibernation during the late fall and winter months. The excitement of the holidays can add an additional stress to your body causing fatigue. Because winter shouldn’t hinder your energy level, I am sharing three ways to combat winter weariness and stay energized naturally.
Reset Your Body Clock
With fall and winter’s limited daylight hours, it’s important to keep your body’s sleep and wake cycles on track for optimal energy. Although it may be tempting, instead of sleeping in, try to get up with the sun so your internal clock is set to an ideal wake time. It’s especially important in the winter months to rise with the sun to make the most of the few available daylight hours and get some natural vitamin D. To feel awake and ready for the day, create a regular routine that helps invigorate and energize you. I like to start my day by layering up and heading outside to breathe in the crisp fresh air, soak up a few minutes of direct sunlight and enjoy a cup of my favorite organic tea, Pukka Supreme Matcha Green. This delicious alternative to coffee is full of flavor and is made with pure Matcha powder and whole leaf greens including, Sencha, Indian green tea, and Vietnamese Pin Ho Wild Jade. Pukka Supreme Matcha Green has a unique taste that truly stands out and I savor it each morning as it supports my health and well-being throughout the day.

Pukka teas are my go-to because of their strong fair trade and environmental commitment. Their mission is to connect people with the power of plants through a supportive and positive impact on personal health and the health of the planet. Though Pukka’s 7 families of teas (energy, digestive, turmeric, cleansing, immunity, relax, and women’s), their line can assist in supporting your unique and ever-changing needs. You can now shop the Pukka line of teas at Walmart! I love that Walmart is offering Pukka products because the tea is now easily accessible, affordable and it’s super convenient to shop the brand along with all of my family’s other essentials. I always bring along my Walmart reusable bags (only cost about .50 each!) which are the perfect eco-friendly way to store Pukka teas and all my other groceries on stock up runs. Because I am always on the lookout for extra ways to save, I scan my receipts through Ibotta to get cash back after all of my shopping trips. Earn $1.50 through Ibotta when you purchase any one Pukka tea (while supplies last) at Walmart!
Your evening ritual is just as important as your morning routine as it helps to ensure a good night sleep. Set a bed time that you can be consistent with and follow a regular nightly routine. Allow yourself at least 30 minutes to an hour to wind down before bedtime. In these moments before sleep, create a peaceful (device/screen-time free) environment with low lights, calming music, essential oils, a book, or anything else that promotes relaxation. Warm and comforting herbal tea is an excellent way to encourage tranquility and prepare for sleep. I like to unwind with a warm cup of Pukka Relax tea with a spoonful of honey before bed each night.
Relax tea is created with a soothing blend of herbs including chamomile, fennel and marshmallow root. The antioxidant rich herbs in this Pukka tea as well as others from their line are certified organic and fair trade, making it a healthier choice not only for consumers but also for the planet. Maintaining consistent sleep/wake cycles is essential for optimal energy throughout the winter months and beyond. Learn and discover more about Pukka tea here.
Exercise
Daily exercise is significant in staying energized and something our bodies crave on a daily basis. Regular exercise is particularly beneficial in the winter because it stimulates the brain to release “feel good” chemicals (serotonin and dopamine). These chemicals help improve mood and ward off depression. Exercising just 30 minutes every day can help to improve circulation/blood flow and metabolism. In the winter, you will have to get creative with your exercise routine due to weather conditions. Yoga, workout dvd’s, on-demand/streaming TV exercise programs, or even a seasonal workout like ice skating are all excellent ways to get your body up and moving!
Wholesome Diet
Just because the season changes doesn’t mean your diet has to drastically differ. You can still have a variety of fruits and vegetables by either heading to the freezer section or buying fresh seasonal produce. Choosing citrus fruits high in Vitamin C will energize you while also boosting your immune system. Leafy greens (kale, spinach) are high in iron, calcium, magnesium (plus loads of antioxidants) that will invigorate and nourish you. Nuts/seeds and whole grains are also packed with protein that will give you sustained energy and strength. Consuming a wholesome diet is the foundation to nourishing your body and feeling energized each day.
