After my daughter read the series of books, she was inspired to plant her own garden with her favorite vegetables! We thought eggshells would make the perfect seed starters for our garden and after saving a few after breakfast we were ready to start our project!

Materials

Eggshells
Egg carton
Organic seeds of choice
Potting Soil
Spray bottle with water
Markers

Directions

First, color the outside of the eggshells with markers. Place shells into egg carton and fill the shells just barely to the top with potting soil. Gently press the seeds downward into the soil, and cover with more soil. Spray your planter with water and then place in a sunny area indoors. Water each day or as needed. Once the seeds have sprouted and grown about 2-3 inches they are ready to be transported. Crack the shells slightly and place them in the ground (the shells are naturally biodegradable and beneficial to surrounding soil).
