Bob’s Red Mill Organic Quinoa: Review, Giveaway, and Recipe

November 25, 2013

This post has been sponsored. All opinions expressed are my own. Full disclosure in tab above.

Have you heard of or tried quinoa (keen-wa)? This delicious superfood is gluten-free and packed with protein and iron. Although quinoa is actually a seed, it cooks like a whole grain making it incredibly versatile within recipes from breakfast to dinner! Bob’s Red Mill offers USDA organic quinoa in three varieties: Original, Red, and Tricolor. I was able to try each of the three and found them all to be super tasty! See below to learn more about each quinoa product.

Organic Quinoa Grain

Quinoa-FThis original organic quinoa can be used in all sorts of recipes like soups, salads, and even desserts (like cookies!). It has a simple earthy flavor and smooth texture. Unlike other quinoa’s, all of Bob’s Red Mill quinoa’s have been thoroughly rinsed and air-dried to remove the naturally occurring bitter saponins. This is a huge plus as rinsing quinoa can be a hassle if your in a hurry to get your meal cooking.

Organic Red Quinoa Grain

6040C164_RedQuinoa_f_750Organic Red Quinoa is much like the original quinoa only it has a slightly firmer texture. This unique red quinoa is vibrant and bright making it the perfect colorful addition to dishes.

Organic Tricolor Quinoa Grain

6042C164_TriColorQuinoa_f_750Tricolor quinoa grain is another unique variety that consists of red, black, and white grains. It has a slightly firmer and crunchier texture than original quinoa and it’s earthy flavor is delicious! With 6 grams of protein and 10% iron in each serving, this is an excellent part of any meal!

I enjoyed using the Tricolor Quinoa in a dinner I created for my family. This flavorful dish is nutritious and very easy to make. Enjoy!
