Mornings are one of the most important parts of the day which is why I try to make sure my family of five starts our day off happily! With all of us headed in different directions to school or work, mornings are super busy but having a normal routine has helped us stay organized and have great mornings. Our morning routine has a few key essentials that help everyone get off on the right foot and have a successful day. Shared below are the top 5 ways I help my family to have a great day.
1. Prepare The Night Before
The night before is the most ideal time to pack lunches, prepare school bags, and lay out outfits for the next day. I set aside about 15 minutes each night to get everything prepared for the following day. Taking care of everything the night before not only is a time saver for the next morning but also ensures nothing will be forgotten or lost in the morning. I like to keep everyone’s bags and backpacks in a designated area so they know just where to find them in the morning. Doing as much as you can the night before helps eliminate the chaos and stress that can come with the made dash to get out of the house in the morning.
2. Take a Daily Supplement
School = ALL the germs. For this reason, I give my kids a daily supplement that helps boost their immune system†. I also take a daily multivitamin to ensure I am getting all essential vitamins that I may not get from diet alone. My school-age daughters love Nature Made® Kids First® Gummies. These tangerine flavored Vitamin C gummies taste great and are super easy for kids to chew. I love having the added confidence that I am helping support my girls immune system† in an easy daily regimen. Because I also work in a school as a nurse, I too want to ensure my body is as healthy as possible and not lacking in any nutritional elements. Nature Made® Multi for Her Plus Omega-3 Gummies are made specifically for women and contain key vitamins essential for well being. These great tasting gummies (lemon, orange, and strawberry flavors) are an excellent source of vitamins A, C, D3, and E, as well as key B vitamins (folic acid, biotin, niacin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12), and important minerals such as chromium and zinc. I especially like that the gummies contain Vitamins A, C, and D as well as zinc to help support the immune system†. Some more reasons I prefer Nature Made® are the following:
- Nature Made had the 1st gummies verified by USP for purity and potency.*
- All natural flavors

3. Eat a Protein + Fiber Rich Breakfast
A hearty breakfast is a super important meal especially for kids. Preparing a protein and fiber rich breakfast each morning will help kids stay full and satisfied until their next meal and also give them the energy they need to jumpstart their day. Eating a healthy breakfast will also help little ones to concentrate in school instead of feeling tried and hungry. Oatmeal is our favorite protein and fiber filled breakfast because we can customize it with various chopped fruits and nuts. I also sometimes like to make overnight oats in portable jars for an easy on-the-go breakfast. Other convenient options are nut butter on whole grain toast with fruit, avocado toast with eggs, and a fruit + yogurt smoothie.
4. Allow for “Me” Time
After everything is completed and ready to go for school, I like to give my girls a little downtime. I think having a small amount of free time where they can do what they please, whether it be coloring, reading a book, or watching a short show, allows them to fully awake in a calm way before their school day begins. With the rest of their day being scheduled out, this free time ensures they start their day in the right state of mind.
5. Create a Positive Atmosphere
A positive atmosphere in the morning will shape the rest of the day for the better. Smiling and having a calm attitude in the morning spreads to others so everyone can feel happy and ready for their day. I like to create a cheerful environment for my kids to wake up to by opening the shades to let the sun shine in and playing their favorite music.

I’m guilty of skipping breakfast too often. I’m trying to make a point of reminding myself each day the importance of the first meal of the day. ~client
