I still remember clearly all the preparations I completed in my home with the approaching due dates for each of my three daughters. I made sure everything was perfect for their big arrival including keeping our home as clean and non-toxic as possible. After deep cleaning my home with plant-based products, I focused on my girls clothing and linens. I pre-washed all of their newly gifted clothes, blankets, and linens, to wash away any germs or toxins that may have collected on them from their original source. After completing everything on my to-do list, I was more than ready to meet our family’s new addition!

Did you know that pre-washing baby’s clothes can make you feel that much more ready for your little one’s arrival? In a recent survey conducted by Dreft* among new parents who pre-wash their baby’s clothes and fabrics, 97% agree that washing these clothes and fabrics before bringing their newborn home was an important step in making them feel ready for baby. This was definitely true in my case as I chose organic/natural clothes and linens for my girls and pre-washing was a necessary step to remove any dirt, germs, or chemicals that collected on these fabrics. Choosing the right detergent to wash your little one’s clothes is just as important as the pre-wash itself. In fact, nearly 90% of dermatologists surveyed agree that baby clothes should be cleaned with a gentle detergent. Dreft, which is the #1 pediatrician recommended baby detergent brand, has created an amazing new product that’s both gentle on baby’s skin and made with naturally based ingredients: Dreft purtouch!

Dreft purtouch differs from traditional Dreft as it is made with 65% plant-based ingredients and is USDA Biobased Certified. The new formula created with naturally derived ingredients is hypoallergenic, making it perfect for your little one’s sensitive skin. It is free of dyes, chlorine, phosphates, ethanoloamine, and optical brighteners. As your baby grows and begins eating solids, this detergent helps to remove 99% of baby-food stains. Having used this detergent on my now toddler’s clothes, it truly does work in removing stains on her clothing from outdoor play and foods. It also has a nice subtle scent and left my daughters clothes and linens feeling soft and looking like new! Some more features that I love about this detergent are:

  • Packed in a 100% recyclable bottle
  • Made with 100% renewable wind power electricity
  • Formula is made at a zero manufacturing waste to landfill site
  • Safe in septic tanks
