Spring is here and unfortunately so is allergy season. Rather than succumb to the itchy/watery eyes, runny nose, and general feeling of lousiness, I am fighting seasonal allergens head on this year with three natural remedies: lemon, raw apple cider vinegar, and local honey. I also still keep my favorite tissues, Scotties, closeby for particularly bad days.
My three part daily regimen to ward off seasonal allergies includes mixing fresh lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of local honey, and 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar into 1 cup of water. Theses three items are powerful and natural ways to help decrease allergies.
- Lemons contain natural antihistamines from their high vitamin C content. They also also have antibiotic properties which gives the immune system a healthy boost.
- Local honey is another effective way to reduce allergy symptoms. When you consume local honey each day, you are also ingesting local pollen which overtime may reduce your sensitivity to this allergen.
- Raw organic apple cider vinegar aids in the reduction of mucous production while also cleansing the lymphatic system. It is important to only use raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar that contains “the mother”. This brown sediment present at the bottom of the bottle is a live collection of nutrient rich bacteria which aids is immune support and many other health benefits.
