Easter is full of fun activities for kids but can also be a great time for your pet! My three girls and I love to think up creative ways to incorporate our dog into holiday activities so he’s not missing out on any of the fun. With Easter less than a month away, I wanted to share three ways our dog, Julio, will be welcoming Spring and celebrating the holiday this year.
1. Doggie Easter Basket
Get your pup involved in the Easter fun by creating a basket full of all his favorite treats! Julio loves Purina dog food so that was the first thing we included in his special basket. Target has an amazing variety of Purina dry dog food products, so our first stop was to the pet food aisle to pick up his favorite food. Purina Dog Chow® Natural is made with real chicken and contains no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. It’s made in the USA and is highly digestible which is perfect for our dog’s sensitive belly. With quality ingredients and protein for strong muscles, this food provides our dog with complete and balanced nutrition. Be sure to grab your dog’s favorite Purina dry dog food this month to save 20% with a special Cartwheel offer!
Some more things we added to Julio’s basket were his favorite treats, squeaky tennis balls, and a tug-of-war rope toy. Our dog is super playful so we focused on fun toys that will keep him active and having fun!
2. Easter Egg Hunt
Your dog will love hunting for eggs filled with tasty treats this Easter! Fill plastic eggs with strong smelling treats that your dog loves and place them throughout your home or yard. We filled Julio’s eggs with broken off pieces of larger treats. Choose hiding places based on your dog’s skill level. We placed Julio’s eggs in obvious places so he could find them easily. Also be sure to use eggs that are large enough your dog won’t swallow them and to only use small amounts of the treat in each egg to prevent your dog from getting sick. For dog’s with a heavy bite, you can alternatively place treats inside dog-friendly toys. Your dog will enjoy roaming the house or outdoors, sniffing for tasty Easter egg prizes!
3. Easter Photo Shoot with Dog Bunny Ears
Get your dog festive this Easter with his own set of bunny ears that can be used in a family photo shoot! All you need is four pipe cleaners to make these easy DIY dog bunny ears. Form a circle with a single pipe cleaner and adjust the circle based on your dog’s head size. Twist the pipe cleaners to close the circle and cut any leftover pipe cleaner. Next form bunny shaped ears with two more pipe cleaners and attach by twisting onto the circle. Wrap the entire circle with another pipe cleaner to make the headband strong. We found a cute blue bowtie to go along with his bunny ears so he was all set for our Easter photo shoot!
