The holidays are one of my favorite times of the year but also trigger painful migraines due to stress, increased sugar consumption, and lack of sleep. I know a migraine is about to occur when an overwhelming feeling of fatigue takes over making it difficult to even keep my eyes open. A hint of pain will then start around my left eyebrow, which shortly later turns into full blown excrutiating pain along with nausea and sensitivity to light and noise. As a mom of three young children, when a migraine strikes it is detrimental to our holiday fun and festivities.

In the past, the only solution I found to cope with *migraines was retreating to a dark room and attempting to sleep through the pain and other symptoms. Going on prescription medications was never a desired option, so Excedrin® Migraine was not only the perfect choice for treatment but also recommended to me by other migraine sufferers. Taking medication at the first signs of a migraine is crucial in controlling symptoms for me but sometimes that isn’t possible. A huge benefit of Excedrin® Migraine is that it starts to relieve migraine pain in 30 minutes. It is also #1 Neurologist Recommended* which is added confirmation that it is an effective and quality product. In my personal experience, this medication relieves my pain completely if taken as soon as my migraine starts and almost completely diminishes pain when taken with an already established migraine. Excedrin® Migraine has allowed me to continue functioning rather than being bed-ridden and apart from family.

One particular moment in which *Excedrin® Migraine came to the rescue was last Thanksgiving. Every Thanksgiving my daughters and I look forward to baking desserts from scratch for our family’s feast. As I awoke last Thanksgiving morning, I could feel the beginnings of a migraine. Rather than surrendering to the migraine, I took Excedrin® Migraine. Within minutes I was able to go about my day as usual, my daughters excited and in the kitchen ready to bake, and the way in which my morning started now forgotten. There are so many special family moments I now enjoy that would have otherwise been missed, thanks to the effective Excedrin® Migraine.

If you do not experience migraines but rather suffer from headaches, *Excedrin® Extra Strength is a great alternative and equally effective option. For some, this medication when used as directed can relieve headaches within just 15 minutes. From various types of headaches to migraines, fast acting and powerful relief is what you can expect from Excedrin® products.

One dessert I love to bake with my daughters around the holiday season is apple crisp. This vegan version of the recipe will fill your home with a delicious aroma and is a family favorite! The apples bake to tender and juicy perfection as they are topped with the sweet, crispy walnut oat topping.

Vegan Apple Crisp

6-8 medium apples, peeled and sliced thin
2 tbsp lemon juice
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
¾ cup whole wheat flour
¾ cup oats
½ cup vegan butter
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ginger
½ cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350. Grease an 8×8 square baking dish. Place apple slices in a large bowl and coat with lemon juice. Pour into prepared baking dish. In a medium bowl add all of the remaining ingredients except the butter and walnuts and stir until evenly incorporated. Cut in butter with a fork until mixture becomes crumbly. Stir in walnuts. Crumble mixture overtop of the apples. Bake for 60 minutes or until topping is browned and apples are bubbling at the sides. Let stand for 10 minutes. Serve warm with coconut whipped topping or vegan vanilla ice cream.

I get migraines a couple times a year. Excedrin always helps… I love that it has caffeine. Coffee alone helps me some days, but I grab Excedrin when I need extra help!

Also, your vegan apple crisp looks delicious! Yum!
