Making a change to a plant-based or dairy-free diet can be difficult at first. You will likely miss or even crave certain foods that are no longer included in your meals. Luckily you don’t have to feel this way as there are several delicious options available that act as substitutes for common dairy products. Listed below are my favorite soy-free vegan go-to products. Also be sure to check out my Pinterest page for vegan recipes!
Earth Balance Soy Free Buttery Spread
If you are looking for a replacement for butter this is certainly it! It tastes just like dairy-based butter (I think it tastes even better than the alternative) and spreads easily and perfectly. It also acts just as butter would in baking and cooking. Even better it’s Non-Gmo, gluten-free, and has zero grams of trans fat! Further product info can be found here.
Silk Unsweetened Almondmilk
Silk Unsweetened Almondmilk has one of the closest tastes to dairy milk in my opinion. It is just slightly thicker in texture (although I perviously drank skim milk) and has a subtle nutty taste. It is perfect with your morning bowl of cereal and acts just as dairy milk in baking and cooking. More things to love about this gmo-free milk are the following: only 30 calories per serving, no added sugar, 50% more calcium than dairy milk, excellent source of vitamin E, no cholesterol or saturated fat, soy free, gluten-free, carrageenan free, and no artificial colors or flavors. More product info here.
So Delicious Cultured Almondmilk Yogurt
If yogurt was a regular part of your routine before you began a plant-based diet, this Cultured Almondmilk Yogurt from So Deicious is likely to become a new favorite snack. It’s thick and creamy texture is very similar to greek yogurt and with amazingly delicious flavors like Vanilla, Strawberry, Blueberry and Chocolate, you will never even think of going back to dairy yogurt. These yogurts are also non-gmo, soy-free, gluten-free, carrageenan free, contain 6 active and live cultutres, and are packed with plant-based nutrients. Full product information here.
So Delicious Almondmilk Ice Cream
You don’t have to miss out on ice cream just because you are vegan or dairy-free! So Delicious has a variety of Almondmilk Ice Cream flavors that are soy-free and taste just as good as dairy ice-cream! They also now free of carrageenan. Find out more here.
Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips
If you love chocolate and also love to bake, it’s important to have a good quality chocolate chip! Enjoy Life offers non-GMO semi-sweet mega chunk chocolate chips, dark chocolate morsels, and mini chocolate chips which are all dairy free, nut-free, gluten-free and soy-free. They taste amazing in cookies and brownies and function in baking just the same as conventional chocolates.
LARABAR Fruit & Nut Bars
Having a portable vegan snack bar for when your on-the-go is a super convenient way to stay satisfied however many bars contain dairy and soy additives. LARABAR Fruit & Nut Bars have just a few simple ingredients and are naturally sweetened with dates. They are available in several flavors and are also gluten-free, non-GMO, and naturally packed with fiber and protein.
There are a few different cereals that are both healthy and meet the above requirements. If you are looking for something with a subtle sweetness, you can try One Degree Organic Foods Veganic Sprouted Brown Rice Cacao Crisps which are USDA Organic and sweetened with coconut palm sugar. Another great option similar to “cornflakes” is Nature’s Path Mesa Sunrise Cereal. This cereal is USDA organic, gluten-free, and made with flax, buckwheat, and the ancient grains quinoa and amaranth. For an organic, soy-free, dairy-free, and vegan “o” cereal try One Degree Organic Foods Sprouted Cereal Ancient Grain O’s Cereal.
Rudi’s Marvelous Multi-Grain Bread
For a dairy-free/vegan/soy-free bread, Marvelous Multi-Grain Bread is the perfect fit. It tastes just like conventional breads (except fresher and less processed thanks to its natural ingredients) and is loaded with healthy ingredients like sunflower and flax seeds. It is USDA Organic and Kosher as well. This is my family’s favorite bread regardless of their dietary restrictions!
When you are looking for a salty and crunchy cracker snack try out Mary’s Gone Crackers Super Seed (USDA Organic, Gluten-Free, and loaded with Omega 3’s), Earth Balance Vegan Cheddar Squares (Non-Gmo and packed with cheesy flavor), and Late July Organic Round Saltine Crackers (USDA Organic/Non-Gmo).
